Protecting Kids Online
Christ Church Student Ministry wants to partner with parents to prevent the exposure to online porn and equip families with the knowledge and tools to help students navigate today's technology and media.
What makes today's porn different?
It's unlimited: one can view porn without ever repeating the same images/videos. It exposes kids to genres and images their brains didn't even consider.
It's addictive: viewing online porn spikes dopamine (in similar ways as meth and cocaine does in the brain).
How is today's porn hijacking our kids?
High speed internet changed the game through novelty and instant gratification.
This exposure has rewired the brain.
This exposure has created a loss of control by solidfying the brain pathways of what is normal.
