MISSION & FAMILY TRAITS

OUR MISSION: Christ Church Student Ministry exists to bring youth in grades 7th – 12th to the person and work of Jesus Christ; build them in Christ and send them for Christ, walking alongside them in mentoring relationships and in partnership with parents. We do this in order to make disciples of Jesus Christ with a new generation for the transformation of the world.

FAMILY TRAITS: This is how our mission plays out . . .

  • Transformation occurs through relationship
  • {we desire to develop intimate and real relationships with one another, we look for ways to steer our events and programming SMALLER so to connect students with each other and with mentoring adults}

  • We are a part of something bigger than ourselves
  • {we continually lift up how these students are a part of the Body of Christ - Christ Church as a whole, their community, and the world; we fight against the "me" perspective and look for ways to create a culture of interaction and connection beyond self}

  • God’s Story is our story
  • {we believe the living core of the Christian faith is revealed in Scripture, highlighted by tradition, brought to life in personal experience, and confirmed by reason - we value students knowing and understanding scripture; we refuse to simply give our "opinions," but consider all things through the lens of truth}

  • God's story is shared by who we are and by living our lives on purpose for His glory
  • {we spend more time and resources on things that we believe will build up our students as ministers of the gospel in their own circles of influence (incarnational ministry) rather than creating events that simply draw students into our church (attractional) -- we see the value of both, but would rather raise up a generation who don't simply go to church, but ARE the church - this, in turn, draws others to a relationship with Jesus}

  • The Journey
  • {we recognize that this faith is a process that is continual - it requires decision after decision, action after action; no one event or program fulfills all that we need}
